The trip started off well at perfect time. The weather was very nice. After passing out of the city area the beautiful rural scene caught our sight. Small villages, extensive Green field, clear blue sky, wooden windmill all made the tour such pleasent that one could have just expected.

On the way the guide was providing us information about Belgium. From her we came to know that before 1830 Belgium and Netherlands were together. So, Dutch is one of the major languages in Belgium. Other major language is French and a small community speak in German. Almost 56% of the inhabitants are muslims and mostly came from other countries. It is a founding member of Europen Union and hosts its headquarters as well as other international organization, including NATO.

Our first stop was in Antwerp. The guide left us near the city center and gave only one and half hour to see the city. For the shortage of time we just travelled around the center. Still we had a really good time wandering around and looking at the beautiful things.

Grote Markt, Antwerp

There was hourbar near the Grote Markt. Several boats laid there at anchor. Antwerp is similar to other cities of the low countries on lots of things. They both have number of beautiful desinged churches, narrow old buildings as you see below. The city itself was quiet, clean, relaxed and beautiful.

Opposite the Grote Markt there is a historic medieval castle named Het Steen, one of Europe's biggest ports. Built in 1200 - 1225, Het Steen is Antwerp's oldest building and previously known as Antwerp Castle.
